The special direct system (sds) drill bit can be used with a percussion drill to drill through hard materials like reinforced concrete. A special type of drill chuck called the special direct system (sds) holds the drill in the drill chuck. By creating a stronger connection that won't slip or wobble, the sds system makes it easier for the bit to be inserted into the drill chuck. Whenever using an sds hammer drill on reinforced concrete, make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions and that you wear protective equipment (e.G. Goggles, gloves).
